This metrical paraphrase of Psalm 33 was published in the New Version of the Metrical Psalms first issued by Tate and Brady in 1696.
The West Gallery genre is still alive in the sense that new compositions are still being added to the corpus. The setting Seoul is named after this tune's place of composition. The extended instrumental introduction and the interlude between verses are termed symphonies. Such symphonies became more common in the later stage of the West Gallery period, as more and more quires adopted instrumental accompaniment.
